Course Information
Description	The scientific study of human society, including ways in which groups, social institutions, and individuals affect each other. Causes of social stability and social change are explored through the application of various theoretical perspectives, key concepts, and related research methods of sociology. Analysis of social issues in their institutional context may include topics such as social stratification, gender, race/ethnicity, and deviance.
Prerequisites	TSI complete in reading.

Course Policies
Instructor Policies	- I will not discuss your grades over the phone or by email. If you want to discuss your grades, you must come to my office, in person. - Students can always e-mail me if they have any questions, please allow 24 hours for me to respond. - Please refrain from using your phone. I understand that you all have personal obligations, but you have to be respectful to the instructor and other classmates. -If you are constantly on the phone, I will not repeat myself on what was stated. -No recording of any time will be taken place during class.
Attendance Policy	Research has shown a cause and effect relationship between attendance and college success. Students with more than three absences from the course will receive an academic penalty. It is not fair for those students who attend and participate actively to get the same grade as those that do not attend and participate.
Academic Honesty	Academic honesty is expected from all students, and dishonesty in any form will not be tolerated. Please consult the LSC-PA policies (Section IX, subsection A, in the Faculty Handbook) for consequences of academic dishonesty.
Facility Policies	No food or tobacco products are allowed in the classroom. Only students enrolled in the course are allowed in the classroom, except by special instructor permission. Use of electronic devices is prohibited.
